Crazy week and bad books

Ok so this past week has been quite crazy. Ron’s brother came into town and he hasn’t seen the guy in 20 years so it was a nice reunion. I was a little worried because I knew nothing of him so I didn’t know what we’d talk about but it ended up being a good reunion and I hope Ron continues to keep in touch with his brother because family is important. His brother is older than him and in much better shape so I hope its a push for Ron to step up his game. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to spend much time with them because I had to go to my parent’s house and take care of my great grandmother who has Alzheimer’s and can’t sit by herself. It was ok, not the best job in the world but that’s what family is for. She’s not getting better and its just rough dealing with the whole situation.

This does lead me to another subject though. Being away from my house and with my folks was hard on the food intake. They don’t really eat healthy which is why I’m at the point I’m at now. Luckily they do try the best they can to accommodate me but I feel so bad because its just me, one person, with three other people in the house. So when they ask me what I’ll eat I don’t want them to go buy a bunch of groceries. This week I just ate sandwiches, salads, and cereal since it was easier to deal with. One night my mother fixed pizza which wasn’t so bad and the other night my father baked some salmon. I’m thankful that my parents care enough that I’m trying to change my life that they are willing to alter their diet for a few days for just me. It would be really rough if they didn’t care.

I will say that the exercise regime was tougher not being at home as well. I can’t leave my grandmother so I had to sit there all day until one of my parents got home; that got really boring not being able to just get up and go whenever I wanted. On top of that when I exercised I had to run outside up and down the street because they are no where near a gym. Let me tell ya, running outside is very different from running on a treadmill. Do not be discouraged because its very easy to in a situation like this. Me, I got really upset that my mile took over 20 minutes to jog/walk it but my dad had to remind me that I’m running outside on the road which is not level. The friction of the road and the added level changes of the road slowed me down. Its ok though, if you’re like me and training for a 5k this is something you need to be aware of. I need to start putting some inclines in my running so that I can get used to running outside because unless you live in Texas there is nothing that is flat enough out there like a treadmill. I just have to keep in mind that it is going to take me awhile to get to being able to jog full on but I know I’ll get there.

To change the subject I tried reading Fifty Shades of Grey and I couldn’t read it. The first chapter was good because she was flustered at meeting Christian Grey and the way it was written made me flustered which I think is good; you should make your reader feel what you want them to feel but the rest of the book was the same way even when she wasn’t around the guy and I’m sorry but there is no need to make the reader feel flustered over talking to a roommate in the book. There were no complex sentences, no interesting dialogue, and very very choppy sentences. I felt like I was reading a book written by a 5 year old. I knew it wasn’t well written to begin with but I enjoyed the first chapter I truly did but after trying to read the rest of it I couldn’t make it through. I’m sorry but the writing is unintelligent and childlike. It reminded me much of Twilight which was terrible; both the books and movies. I personally like more complex books that don’t make me pissed at the lead character like Shades. So to my friends who warned me thanks for letting me figure it out on my own. Time for me to get my 15$ back. I realize that I am not the best writer in the world; however, this is a blog not a book that is being published. Publishers should do better.

Tomorrow is a weigh in day we’ll see how I’ve done this week.
