Thanksgiving Update!

So it’s been quite some time since I’ve updated and to be honest we’ve been stressed and busy. I figure it’s a good time to update everyone on what’s happening for the Carlsons.

First, we’re in California safely. There were no major hiccups with the move other than we took a bit longer than expected to get here. We had estimated about 4 days but it was closer to 6 because Ron is not as confident in his driving skills as I am. We eventually traded and I drove the truck because he got to the point where he was barely going above 40 on the highway because of the wind. Turns out we didn’t pack the truck the best and with the wind things got shifted around from the truck being blown around. On the 4th day I said told him I couldn’t do this anymore and I took over after we shifted the truck around a bit to even out the load because it was starting to tilt to one side while driving, it was a bit frightening to watch lol. I didn’t have a problem driving but I also don’t have an issue with my feet like Ron does, diabetes can take its toll on your feet and he feels it. When driving you kind of need to be able to feel the car so that has definitely affected his confidence so it was much better with me driving the truck and after I took over we made much better time. We did however have a slight issue with Khaleesi, that’s what we named my Equinox, she started running hot while we were going through Arkansas and ended up needing fluid. It was a bit scary we were afraid we were stuck but after getting water in and everything she’s ok. She’s 12 years old so we’re at the point that its gonna take a bit more TLC to keep her going but I don’t mind I come from a family who keeps our cars going until they can’t go anymore lol. Hey she’s paid off I don’t see the point in replacing her after just paying her off especially when she’s still in good condition.

Second, I got to TwitchCon safely and had a blast that weekend and made some amazing connections. It was such a blast seeing the ladies I work with and game with every day. I love being a part of GirlStreamers and I’m so proud of the work we’ve done of the last couple of years. After TwitchCon the following weekend I went to a conference for Patreon. It was a cool experience and I learned a lot. I really like what Patreon stands for, they’re trying to help get creatives paid for what they do by involving their communities in the work. Because of this experience I’ve taken a leap and I’ve started up a Patreon for Two Lazy Dogs. Our first set of tiers revolves around a legal podcast hubby and I are starting up, a set of political videos we plan on recording to explain what politicians mean by certain bills and just addressing current topics from a legal and unbiased view point. As unbiased as possible, we want to educate people so they can be informed for what they’re voting on. One thing I notice is how confusing things can be when it comes to bills and laws and all that fun stuff. Another thing I’m going to start working on is a collaboration with a friend for some music videos. I’m going back to my roots with this one because that’s what I started playing around with as a kid and I’m so excited. These will be original works from my friend too so its going to be really fun. This is going to be a ton of work but I’m excited to be a part of this; if you’re interested in checking out the Patreon I’ll link it at the bottom of the post.

Third, Ron has gotten a job! He is working at a firm and loving it right now. I am so proud of him and I love seeing him come home every day in such a different mood from before. He looks forward to going to work in the morning. We’ve had to by him some new pants and suit jacket because he has lost so much weight and he looks so good in his new clothes. They’re not falling off of him like his old suit; I would like to get it tailored though because its a beautiful suit but I don’t if it can be tailored anymore its his suit from when he was at his largest and its already been tailored once. I’m just really happy he’s happy and its nice to see him like this, he gets to do real attorney work! We’ve been really blessed, God has been good to us. Our current goal is to find a place to live which is proving to be a bit difficult but I know we’ll find something. I’m just thankful we have a roof over our heads; however, yesterday I was struggling with this concept. We had applied to a house and I was hoping we’d get it, it was so cute and had a yard but we were denied. It was definitely a blow and my first thought was its not fair but I have to check myself because we have a lot to be thankful for. So, I let myself cry a little bit and wrote in my journal to get it out and I’m good I got it out of my system and time to move forward looking for a place to live. I got a little spoiled because of how quickly Ron found a job, which is truly a blessing and I’m so thankful he was able to find something that he likes so much. So now its just a waiting game for other places, we have to be patient because we expected to live in a hotel for a few months anyway and it has only been about 7 weeks since we got here it just feels longer even though its not. Life is good right now even with all the chaos life is good and its nice to be in this place right now.

And finally, tomorrow is Thanksgiving so I want to say THANK YOU to all of you who support me from my family to my followers. Ya’ll help me keep going and I truly appreciate all the support you’ve given me throughout the years. You are amazing and beautiful! Have a wonderful holiday tomorrow and if you’re working I hope Black Friday is not too terrible for ya!
