Good evening all! I hope you all had a wonderful week. Well, this time last week I was enjoying some Butterbeer at Harry Potter world! Ah, the best drink ever. Too bad it is something that I can’t have every day. Our Universal vacation was awesome to say the least. We really needed it. There was plenty of walking and plenty of eating and it was glorious. I only gained 2.8 pounds on the trip which was mostly bloating because I had so many different foods that I don’t normally have. On the way home I felt as if I’d gained more so I was happily surprised when I looked on the scale Monday. I will step up again Sunday which is our regular weigh in date.
Some of the rides I couldn’t fit in which makes me sad and makes me feel fat but that’s just a goal because we will most definitely be back. Universal has done such a great job and I hope that they continue adding more and making it bigger because it really felt like we were in Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade. I do hope that some day you can go through the castle proper not just the ride, which by the way is so awesome! I think I’ve read somewhere that they’re doing one in England where they filmed the series and having it solely Harry Potter world, if so that’s just another epic excuse to go to Europe. Here are some of the pictures from our vacation!

So I’ve been hearing a lot of hype about the Fitbit app and products. I did some research on it and in my opinion its not worth the money. Maybe you can show me why its so good but anything that you can do with Fitbit is available through your smartphone for free. It counts your steps and activity, well there are so many apps and products out there that are so much cheaper than a Fitbit. Also, why do I need to log my food onto their site when there are great apps for that. One is the Loseit app. We’ve used it before and you can scan barcodes, log activity, and even add food that they don’t have. It’s free and available in both smartphone and desktop form. Another good one is Myfitnesspal which does the same as the Loseit app. Personally, I’m not a person who likes to log their food and count calories. I do think its important to be smart about what you eat but doing those things just weighs me down and makes me too self conscious, which is why I like what we’re doing now; however, you can get everything you need for much cheaper and sometimes free. If it comes to the point where it can register what you eat and drink without having to log online and do it manually maybe I’ll use one, but for now I’ll keep doing what I’m doing. Some people need that extra incentive and I say go for it but do your research because what you need may be available for much cheaper.
Since I can’t think of a good segway from the last paragraph to this one I’ll just jump right into my next thought, inspiration or motivation to keep you going. I often find myself looking for some kind of thing to get my butt in gear. I love seeing other people’s progress unless it is someone that I feel is in competition with me, then screw you I’m not happy for you stop losing weight faster. No seriously, I’m kidding, or am I? Anyway, it does get tough sometimes even if you do like seeing other people’s progress. I find it easier to watch strangers progress than people I know. I feel like I should be at a different level with my family and friends versus a complete stranger so it doesn’t bother me when I see that super fit girl doing that thing on that other thing because I don’t know her but when I see my mom’s dad’s best friend’s daughter that I grew up with who got fat after high school lose all her weight in less than it took to gain it, it pisses me off even though I don’t talk to her anymore. No that person doesn’t exist but we all have someone like that in our lives lets be honest with ourselves. Here’s the thing, it doesn’t matter. Don’t compare yourself to the girl who made fun of you for being fat because she/he isn’t on your level. It took you a long time to get to this point and it will take a long time to get to the end. The longer you are unfit the longer it will take you to get fit so don’t sweat it, or do...haha I’m so clever. Anyway, as I said before I do enjoy seeing other people’s progress for the most part so one of my inspirations is a group I’m in on Facebook. Its a group of nerds who go to DragonCon and we’re all trying to lose a little bit of weight before DC and its full of encouragement and people’s successes. They’re a great bunch of people and I suggest you should find something similar. If you’re a big fan of something find a group that can talk with you about that thing but also help encourage you to continue on your fitness goal. Having people hold you accountable will help in the long run. I don’t mean people that go, have you worked out today or what have you eaten today? I mean people that are going through it themselves and can go along with you.
Another thing that helps me is my inspirational pinterest board. I have what I call a Workout/Inspiration board that I go to especially on those days when I really really don’t want to get off the couch. They’re full of memes and workout ideas. I’m continuously finding good information on pinterest, yes I’m addicted. Its a great resource for little articles about food ideas, workout ideas, clothes, shoes etc. If you’d like to follow my pinterest board you can link to it here: https://www.pinterest.com/brpoit/workout-inspiration/
