Hiking Diary - (Getting back on the trail and people that bug me)
Went on a hike today for the first time
in over a month. As you all know its been a rough few months here but
I'm getting back into the swing of things. I've made my 3rd
hiking diary even though technically it's my 4th one. The
3rd one was made but the footage was poor so I scrapped
it. I'm trying to get back into hiking regularly, its hard when you
have one car and your husband uses it for work. So my goal is to have
the car at least once a week and I just drive him into work then I go
hike somewhere since it'll be early enough that not many people will
be out plus it'll be cooler in the mornings.
So things I noticed on the trail today
that bugged the hell out of me: people that talk on their phone while
working out bother me. I realize this is a personal pet peeve but
seriously when you go hiking and you're hiking a mountain why are you
on the phone? I counted 4 people talking on their phones and one
child playing on one while hiking today and I don't understand. First
off, I don't want to hear your conversation while I'm working out in
the gym or on the trail, its just rude. Secondly, if you're able to
talk on the phone while in the middle of a workout you're not working
out very hard. Seriously, this one woman was walking with a friend I
saw her go up the mountain and come back down while on the phone the
entire time! That's not only rude to those of us around you, its rude
to the person your hiking with just stop it, if it's work maybe you
should be working instead of working out. I go to the woods for
solace and nature, I realize more popular trails will be a bit louder
and I fully expect that and I'm fine but I don't want to hear you
talking about the tp reports while on a mountain. You're in nature
get off your phones and look around!! It was a beautiful day today
and you're just ignoring the beauty for a phone call. Not only did I
see adults on the phone I saw children playing games while walking,
guys this is not a good idea that kid is gonna trip and fall and bust
open her face and damage the phone. Let's stop using technology as a
babysitter, the kid is outside why the hell is her nose still in the
phone? Parents come on!!! These are things that bug me and make me
happy I've made hiking a part of my every day life.
One thing I saw that made me totally
jealous, someone had their Eno at the top of the mountain and they
looked so comfy. I would love to have an Eno hammock to take with me
while hiking to just chill. You sir are cool in my book.
